Under the new state law, public restrooms and locker rooms are open to anyone while private companies, schools, churches, etc., are allowed to set their own rules for use of their restrooms. Several celebrity performers have canceled upcoming concerts in North Carolina, including Bruce Springsteen and Ringo Starr. Of greater economic importance, a number of major corporations have threatened economic action against the state, including the NBA, Apple, Disney, PepsiCo, Bank of America, and American Airlines. PayPal is withdrawing plans to build a new $3.6 million operations center in Charlotte, while Deutsche Bank is freezing expansion plans in the city of Cary that would have provided 250 new jobs.
The hypocrisy of these corporations is stunning. Every single one of them does business in China, where their one-child policy has resulted in a culture of abortion and infanticide. They also do business in the Middle East where women are treated as little more than property and where a number of homosexuals have been killed. (ISIS has videotaped several instances where homosexuals have been pushed to their deaths from the tops of tall buildings).
So why are these corporations taking a position in North Carolina? (The celebrities aren't important except to those who would have paid to get into their concerts. And while I'm thinking about it, who in the world would pay good money to hear Ringo Starr?) To do the same thing in China or the Middle East would result in huge losses in revenue whereas they realize there is no risk to do so here. Their protests appease the LBGT (Lesbians, Bi-sexuals, Gays, and Transgenders) crowd, and they obviously aren't concerned about any protests from Christians.
To state that we are living in a post-Christian era in the United States is blatantly obvious. For those of us who recall a different country as we were growing up, it is hard to believe we are living in the same country. We are now at a point where people who have been indoctrinated--and I mean indoctrinated, not educated--in the public education system all the way from pre-school through the college/university level largely reject the Biblical view of life. As far as the majority of them are concerned, Christians who insist upon the principles and commandments in God's Word are nothing more than bigots and haters. As they are moving into positions in education, government, industry, and even many denominations, they are creating an atmosphere where Christians who remain loyal to God and His Word are being increasingly marginalized.
Our lives are ordered, not by godless celebrities and corporations, but by God's Word. For those of us who remain loyal to that Word, the pressure against us will inevitably increase as the Lord's return draws steadily closer. As we are warned in Revelation 12:12: "Therefore rejoice, O heavens, and you who dwell in them! Woe to the inhabitants of the earth and the sea! For the devil has come down to you, having great wrath, because he knows that his time is short."
